Week 2 Term 2 Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences We have Three-Way Conferences (for Parent /Student/Teacher) scheduled for Tuesday 10 May and Wednesday 11 May. Kia ora Kākano whānau! The shortest day of the year (in terms of sunlight hours) occurs on Tuesday this week and marks the winter solstice. This also brings cooler weather for the next few weeks, so make sure you wrap up warm each morning before coming to school. Fingers crossed the rain stays away this week and we get lots of time out in the fresh air. Our play provocations continue to be around planet earth and beyond this week. Matariki Public Holiday - School closed on Friday This year marks the first year that we have an official public holiday to celebrate Matariki on June 24th. In Māori culture, Matariki is both the name of the Pleiades star cluster and of the celebration of its first rising in late June or early July. Week 8 It is hard to believe we are now in the last few weeks of school. As always, we have a lots going on this week, please read through the notices to make sure you know what is happening each day. Monday: Junior school Big Day In Your child needs their swimming togs, sunhat, normal small morning tea, and $5 for our lunch. Optional is to bring a named water gun. All junior children can wear home clothes to school for our Fun day. Tuesday: Junior Tryathlon; 11:15 What to bring: bike/scooter, helmet, sneakers, togs. If Parents are available to help please contact your child's teacher. Wednesday / Thursday Normal school days. Friday: Year 0-2 Assembly; 2:05 Our children will be hosting our final school Assembly. Our Year 2 children will be organising the assembly with the support of our Year 0 and 1 children. Some children will be bring home ‘words’ that they will be saying at our assembly.
